Batley
The
town of Batley finds itself listed in the Doomsday Book, with
a population of little more than forty, a far cry from today;
for like most towns in the area, Batley prospered as the textile
industry boomed.
Why not take
in the pleasures of the cobbled market square surrounded by fine
recently refurbished Victorian architecture, monuments to the
confidence of those who founded the "Shoddy" industry; or visit
some of Batley's excellent attractions, including the Skopos Shopping
Village the nearby Motor Museum and the Butterfly Conservation
Centre. You can even take time out to visit the wide variety of
shops that Batley town centre has to offer, including many major
high street names, including: tesco's, Boots and Woolworths, as
well as a number of interesting specialty retail outlets, including
Ponden Mill, The Edinburgh Woollen Mill, and Susan Moore's Lighting
Gallery. State-of-the-art mountain bikes, fantasy card-games,
knock-em-dead wedding outfits, champaign glasses, and the best
pork pies in Yorkshire - they're all here, not to mention the
exciting nightlife that Batley has to offer.
Market Days:
Friday and Saturday. This is just a taste of what Batley has to
offer, but why not come and see for yourself, and enjoy making
your own discoveries. If you would like to know more, please contact
