Castle Hill & Victorian Tower
Being
occupied since the Stone Age, Castle Hill is one of the most striking
natural landmarks in the area, and dominates the Huddersfield
skyline.
The Victoria Tower, otherwise known as Jubilee tower that crowns
the hill was built in 1898/9 to celebrate the 60th Anniversary
of Queen Victoria's coronation.
At a height of nearly 1,000 feet above sea level the tower top
affords visitors a splendid panoramic view of the township of
Huddersfield and its surroundings. Inside an exhibition traces
the hill's 4,000 years of history.
